Hynish and the Signalling Tower from Crossapol

The Signalling Tower from Crossapol

Beautiful sets arrive at Crosspol beach in a westerly gale. Across Hynish Bay is the Old Signalling Tower and the Keepers Cottages. Between 1840 and 1844 the Skerryvore Lighthouse, 10 miles south-west of Tiree, was built under the supervision of Alan Stevenson. The rock was quarried on the Ross of Mull. The Signalling Tower on Tiree was constructed to enable visual communication with the keepers on the light.
