Blaven

17 October 2003. The classic view of Blaven and Clach Glas across Loch Slapin. The wide angle view also takes in An Stac, Garbh-bheinn, Sgurr nan Each and Belig. The cottage at Arincreaga is reflected in the loch. The expanded detail shows the cottage, the pinnacles on the Clach Glas ridge and the golden seaweed exposed by the tide.

I took this photo mid-morning on my way round to Elgol prior to returning to Kilmarie to begin the trek up Blaven's south ridge. My morning began at sub-zero Sligachan where I had to shake sheets of ice off my tent. It was a beautiful drive across the island from Broadford with all the vegetation an autumnal golden brown.
