Arkle ridge

15 October 2006 12:25 I had to break the photographers rule of never shooting into the sun to take this photo (a collage of 8 digital images). The immediate foreground is a pavement of shattered quarzite with some of the cracks large enough to disappear into, which would make for an interesting walk under snow! On the left is a ribbon of mist lying in the glen between Loch More and Loch Merkland. The high peak on the horizon, above the pavement, is Ben More Assynt.  In the middle distance on the right is Ben Stack, with Loch Stack in front. From right to left, from Ben Stack, disappearing into the anticyclone haze are Quinag, Suilven, Cul Mor and Canisp.
